Permanent courses
Orienteering Wellington and Wellington City Council have created two permanent orienteering courses - one on the Wellington waterfront and the other on Matairangi Mt. Victoria. Each course has control sites marked with permanent metal tags. You can download or print a map and navigate your way around these control sites.
Permanent courses are a good way to dip your toes into orienteering without waiting for the next organised event, or to hone your skills if you’ve got some experience already. If you’re completely new to orienteering, have a look at our advice for newcomers.
Waterfront
The waterfront course offers urban orienteering with easy navigation to clearly defined features like buildings and fences. This would be good preparation for our urban sprint events which run after work during the summer in parks and campuses around the city.

Mount Victoria
Mt. Vic. is host to four different courses making use of the complex track network through the town belt. They start short and easy, and get harder. You can expect to climb some decent hills on the longer courses.
